Women's Shelter

Existing

Menchville House is a transitional house facility that helps homeless woman and their children. Their purpose is to support families to "return to self sufficiency". Since the class started on fall 2012, Mechville has a target client. The main problems we found at the housing were the lack of knowledge about healthy foods, the lack of healthy lifestyle, the lack of revenue stream in order to be healthy and lack of activities to do outdoor with children.

Proposed

Fall 2012 was a first attempt to use vertical garden to solve some of the problems identified. The final system design aims to bring people to a state of knowledge and confidence about healthy foods, having an enduring lifestyle change, recurring revenue stream and creative opportunities for mother child interaction We achieve that by using a vertical garden which has a duo user group, allows mobility and its flexible (physically and functionally), has a smart design life cycle, is cost efficient, durable, educational, and promotes ownership and independence
